TWINTUITION – THE MYSTERIOUS BOND BETWEEN TWINS

We often say that we were telepathic in the womb. Twins—especially identical twins—are connected by a mysterious bond of energy. Twins share a oneness that is very unique, and vibrate on the same frequency, almost as one organism. Twins inhabit their own private twin world that few outsiders can penetrate.

Back in July, we starred in the ABC Nightline Primetime “Beyond Belief” series, discussing “twintuition.” Lisa Ling, host of “Our America” on OWN, will be dedicating a show this coming week to the fascinating topic of twins.

Many years ago, the two of us coined the word “twintuition” which means the magical and mysterious bond that twins share—we feel the same feelings, pick up on the other twin’s pain or physical symptoms, even dream the same dreams! Being a twin is a magical experience, and being blessed with psychic abilities makes it even more magical. We are two of the only twins we know who author books, create paintings, costumes, and other types of art together, which contributes to our telepathic connection with each other! We go more into depth about this in our first book Separated at Earth: The Story of The Psychic Twins.

Twintuition is a phenomenon that has been observed since the 1880s. Guy Playfair, a paranormal researcher and author of Twin Telepathy, likens twin telepathy to ‘quantum entanglement’ in quantum physics. With photons (very small particles), when one photon is altered, the other one alters immediately afterwards, even if separated by a long distance. It is a myth that all twins are telepathic with each other, however. According to Playfair, only about 30 percent of twins have actually experienced a telepathic connection while the vast majority have no particular psychic bond between them.

There is a good deal of anecdotal evidence to reinforce the existence of twintuition. The two of us have experienced twintuition too many times to count. Studies indicate that it is stronger in the event of pain or psychic distress. We have all heard the stories about one woman feeling her twin’s labor pains, or the boy who experiences his twin brother’s shock after a car accident many miles away. Some years ago, Terry became extremely ill with a virus. She couldn’t hear, speak or walk. Linda, who was on a date at the time, felt an urgent need to rush home despite her boyfriend’s protests. (We didn’t have cell phones at the time.) Linda arrived just in time to get Terry to the emergency room. Empathy or compassion strengthens twintuition and may explain how one twin “knows” what the other twin is feeling, or can predict something his or her twin is about to experience.
